All new clients are required to complete a consultation form before their first session. Please fill this in as honestly as possible - everything is kept confidential.
Contraindications — read before completing
Please read this list before answering the questions below. Some conditions mean treatment cannot go ahead; others simply need a GP sign-off or an adapted approach.
Absolute - treatment cannot go ahead
- Active cancer, or currently undergoing chemotherapy or radiotherapy
- Active deep vein thrombosis (DVT) or blood clots
- Acute infection, fever, or sepsis
- Active cellulitis
- Congestive heart failure (decompensated)
- Acute kidney failure or severe renal impairment
- Active tuberculosis
- Acute phlebitis or thrombophlebitis
Relative - GP referral may be needed, or treatment adapted
- Heart conditions, including uncontrolled high or low blood pressure
- Thyroid disorders, particularly hyperthyroidism
- Autoimmune conditions
- Diabetes
- Epilepsy
- Asthma or other respiratory conditions
- Blood-thinning medication (e.g. warfarin, apixaban)
- Severe varicose veins in the treatment area
- Open wounds, broken skin, or active skin conditions (eczema, psoriasis) in the treatment area
- Recent tattoo in the treatment area
- Lymphoedema (requires specialist referral and an adapted approach)
- Pregnancy or postnatal (I offer adapted pre and postnatal treatments)
- Recent surgery or medical procedure (treatment can often still go ahead with adaptations)
- Known allergies to massage oils or lotions
